Adding Engineers

In ServiceSight you can create Engineer records so that you can plan their work, send them jobs & messages and see their productivity & utilisation.

Adding Engineers that have access to the mobile application

  • Click on the ‘Settings’ link in the top right-hand area of the system
  • Then in the menu that opens on the left, select General | Employees
  • The list of current employees opens. Click the green ‘Add Employee’ button on the right
  • Add the engineer’s name. The Status field will default to ‘Active’. You can use this feature to de-activate users if the need arises later
  • Enter the engineer’s initials. These will be used as a placeholder avatar until you have uploaded a picture
  • There are two reference fields here that you can utilise if needed but are not required fields
  • Enter a mobile number for the engineer if available
  • Click the Login tab to proceed with setting up this engineer’s usage of the system
  • Tick ‘This user is an engineer’ & ‘Allow mobile engineer app login’ (This not only flags this employee as an engineer – so they will appear on the Planner board & Planner map – but also that they will be using the mobile app for receiving & completing jobs)
  • Select a security role from the ‘Role performed’ drop-down list & a ‘Job controller’
  • As this employee will be logging into the mobile app, enter their email address (This is important as it will serve as their log in name for the app but also be used to send them the invitation to log in the ServiceSight for the first time)
  • You can also add a photo of the engineer if you wish by clicking the Photo tab and ‘Choose file’. (The images must be jpeg or bmp format)
  • Click the green ‘Save’ button to see your uploaded logo
  • You can remove the photo at any time in this same screen by clicking ‘Delete Photo’ or it can be replaced simply by selecting a new image in the same manner as the original

 

Adding Engineers that do not have access to the mobile application

  • Click on the ‘Settings’ link alongside your avatar in the top right-hand area of the system
  • Then, in the menu that opens on the left, select General | Employees
  • The list of current employees opens. Click the green ‘Add Employee’ button on the right
  • Add the engineer’s name
  • The Status field will default to ‘Active’
  • Enter the engineer’s initials (These will be used as a placeholder avatar until you have uploaded a picture)
  • There are two reference fields here that you can utilise if needed but are not required fields
  • Enter a mobile number for the engineer if available
  • Next, click the Login tab to proceed with setting up this engineer’s usage of the system
  • Select ‘This user is an engineer’ only (This only flags this employee as an engineer – so they will appear on the Planner board & Planner map – and does not grant access to the mobile app for receiving & completing jobs)
  • Select a ‘Job controller’ and click the green ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the screen to add this new engineer
  • You can also add a photo of the engineer if you wish
  • A browse window opens allowing you to select the image. Click ‘Open’ to upload it
  • You can remove the photo at any time in this same screen by clicking ‘Delete Photo’ or it can be replaced simply by selecting a new image in the same manner as the original
