Editing the Dashboard

The ServiceSight Dashboard is your window both into the system & to your business. It is the first page that you see when you log into the system every day and the screen that you will probably return to most often.

The Dashboard offers easy routes to your vital data, quick & simple ways to add new jobs & customers as well as insight into your businesses performance & efficiency.

All of this is achieved through five types of widget that can be added to your Dashboard. Each user can customise the Dashboard in terms of what widgets are added and where they appear. You can also limit access to certain widgets through applying security roles if needed.

This article will focus on editing & customising the Dashboard and other articles will focus on using the Dashboard.

Dashboard Editing Options

  • To edit the Dashboard click the green ‘Edit Dashboard’ button.
  • A new set of buttons appear:

Add Widget

Click here to add one the five widget types available to your dashboard. These are ServiceInSight KPI Charts; Job Status Tiles; Quick Create Buttons; Search Bar & Engineer Status Carousel.

Dashboard Layout

Click here to choose the layout for your dashboard from the five options available. This will determine how many sections you want the dashboard divided into. You can also add a title to the dashboard here also. This is a good place to have your company or business name.

Save Changes

Use this button to save your changes to the dashboard layout, whether it be the layout itself or additional widgets or just moving widgets around into different locations.

Undo Changes

Use this button to return to the dashboard as it was prior to making any recent changes. Great for experimentation!

Dashboard Layouts

The first thing you will want to do when editing your dashboard for the first time is to choose your layout.

  • Click the green ‘Dashboard Layout’ button.
  • An edit screen opens with a title field & five options for your layout to choose from.
  • To enter a title for the dashboard type it in in the ‘Title’ field.
  • Then select a layout by clicking on it and then hitting the ‘Close’ button. This will determine how your dashboard is configured and where you can add widgets.

Adding Widgets

There are five type of widget available to add to your dashboard. Once added they will be removed from the list of options, except for the Charts of course as you may add a variety of charts to your screen depending on your role within the business.

  • ServiceInSight – Business Intelligence Charts
Your ServiceSight system comes preconfigured with 10 KPI charts & graphs to give you insight into your business. These charts represent the most important information you need to help you grow & develop your business as well as improving customer satisfaction, cash flow and engineer efficiency.

  • Outstanding Job Statistics
This widget consists of four tiles. Each tile shows the number of jobs currently in each range of job statuses. Clicking on the tiles will open the list of jobs and show you the jobs in question.

  • The Global Search Bar
The search bar is a powerful entryway into your ServiceSight database. Here you can start typing any part of any customer name, contact, job, invoice or reminder and the system will quickly return any matching records.

  • Quick Create Buttons
This widget adds four green buttons to the Dashboard providing a quick create facility for the four main parts of the database without having to use the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  • Engineer Status Carousel
The Engineer Carousel widget allows you to see what your engineers are doing, what jobs they have assigned currently & next and also a tally showing how many jobs they have finished of the ones assigned for today. It also links you to the engineer planner board & map as well as providing quick links off to the jobs being worked on today.

  • To add a widget click on it in the list that appears and it is added to your dashboard.
  • Repeat for as many widgets as you need.
  • For Charts, once selected, another screen appears where you can choose which chart you want to add and what its size should be (small, medium or large).
  • Once you have added the widgets you need your dashboard will look something like this:

  • Each widget has just been added on top of each other so now you can drag them around into the spaces you want to see them.
  • This is done by clicking the header of the widget in the grey area and whilst holding the mouse button, dragging to a new location. The widget will appear in the location as a faint shadow to show how it would look. If you are happy with it then simply let go of the mouse button and the widget will move.

  • Your dashboard has now been saved. Note that each user can have their own layout & widget additions so they can customise the screen to suit their role better.
  • You can edit your dashboard at any time by using the green ‘Edit Dashboard’ button & selecting to edit the layout or add widgets as needed.
